Winning Combinations

Dear Friends of MCDC,

The recent economic downturn hit a variety of Montana businesses. Many experienced significant sales decreases, making it difficult to show strong financials and qualify for loans. At MCDC we can help good businesses who simply had an off year. We can partner on loans or take referrals to help you say yes to your clients. Recently, we partnered with Big Sky EDA in Billings to keep a family-owned business on track with their growth plans despite the tough economy. Give us a call if you know of other businesses who might benefit from our services.

MCDC Loan Grows Family Business in Eastern Montana

Brothers, Oli and Jon Trip of Billings were running their electronic retail business out of their home until 2007 when they decided to build a new showroom and warehouse. Founded in 2002, this family owned business is a provider of fire and alarm systems, cable and satellite systems, and audio/video and theatre installation. Comtech had received a SBA 504 loan through their local community development organization, Big Sky Economic Development Authority, for construction costs, but needed additional financing after the recession hit their sales hard. Big Sky EDA referred the owners of Comtech to MCDC for business consulting and further financing. MCDC’s loan officers and business consultants worked extensively with Comtech to get their accounting in line and bullet proof for the future. With business assistance from around the state, Comtech was able to weather the economic downturn and expand their business, retaining 7 full time jobs and increasing their services in Montana and Wyoming.

MCDC is proud to bring collaborative business development efforts like this one to communities throughout the state. Working with other local development organizations and local banks, we can provide more entrepreneurs with the flexible business tools they need to expand their companies and strengthen their communities.

With a recently opened office in downtown Bozeman, MCDC now offers its full range of services to small businesses in Eastern Montana, allowing further collaboration with local banks and community development partners. MCDC's Bozeman office is fully staffed with Loan Officer (Sarah Fitzgerald), Client Accounting Advisor (Gary Slane), and SBDC Business Advisor (Ryan Hansen). Give us a call today to see if we can work together to keep Montana businesses moving forward.
